Call for special task force to fight football match-fixing in Italy

We had reported last week about a new match-fixing scandal in Italian football leading to the arrest of 16 persons including Beppe Signiori, a former Italian international player. According to a report published today by a popular gambling news portal, the Italian Interior Minister Roberto Maroni has given orders for elite police forces to begin investigating football corruption. He wants to "determine the best ways for prevention and repression of clandestine betting on football matches."
